Sneeze Post Highlighting Past Blog Posts

My blog has only been around for a couple of months, but there have already been some very important posts that I would like to highlight. The nature of blogs means that these posts get buried by the new ones that have been recently added. However, some of these early posts are essential reads for people who are new to weight lifting. They are important because they lay the overall foundation for my strength training philosophy and teachings. The three previous blog posts I want to highlight include “Why Strength Train”, “Introduction to Strength Training”, and “Essential Strength Training Exercises that should be a Part of Any Upper Body Workout”.

Why Strength Train?

There are a multitude of benefits that are associated with including resistance training in your overall fitness program. In fact, regardless of your age, your body will thank you for forcing it to lift weights. So what are the benefits? The following list helps summarize some of the key benefits of weight lifting:

  • Aesthetics: Building muscle will make your clothes fit better and make you look better in them.
  • Preserve strength: The old adage rings true, “If you don’t use it, you lose it”. People lose muscle mass as they age due to changes in body chemistry.
  • Build strength: Lifting weights in a controlled setting will prepare your body for life’s daily activities. Meaning, that being stronger will make regular activities such as snow plowing or getting groceries easier.
  • Protect you from injury: Strengthening your muscles will help protect you from common injuries and strains.
  • Burn more calories: Resistance training increases your muscle mass and thus your metabolic rate. Or simply, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn.
  • Decrease blood pressure: Weight lifting has been shown to decrease blood pressure by making your heart stronger and thus more efficient.
  • Safety: Resistance training will better prepare you for extreme situations that require having a lot muscle. For example, carrying a loved one to safety in case of a fire.
  • Increased confidence: Becoming physically strong will help boost your confidence because you know you will be well prepared for life’s demanding physical tasks. Also, you will have more confidence with the opposite sex because you will be more attractive.

In conclusion, there are many different benefits to strength training, and everyone should begin as soon as they can because it can be a lengthy process.
